Thermal Imaging
Home and Building
Thermal Imaging building inspections is the latest technology available to home and building owners who want to determine whether there property has any faults.
Thermal imaging and moisture
Thermal imaging can find a moisture leak in your building.
You may own a house that has leaky house syndrome; most leaks in buildings are due to external water entering the building because of
1 Poor design of the frame work of the building
2 Poor or inappropriately fitted door or windows or inappropriately fitted exterior wall cladding and in some cases the product used was never designed for the use for which it was used.
3 Poor or inappropriately fitted exterior roof cladding and in some cases the product used was never designed for the use for which it was used.
4 You many own a two storey building which has a bath room or kitchen on the top story, you may have a shower or toilet that was fitted wrong or the compound use has broken down because of age or the toilet or shower has a crack or split. If you have a kitchen on the top story of the building you may have a fridge which is leaking when the fridge defrosts itself, the tray which would normally hold that moisture may have come loose or may have moved or may be damaged. You should also check for leaks around the sink or drain pipe, you may have leaking hot water cylinder or pipe work.
Some of the faults above can be checked and rectified by your self or some one with some handyman skills but to see if any damage has been done or the extent to which moisture has penetrated your building frame work call in a thermographer. They will come with a thermal imaging camera when moisture is detected they will give you a image of the damaged area which you can not see with the naked eye.
Thermal Imaging and Insulation
Heat loss can cost you a lot of money.
Thermal imaging can also detect heat loss because of poor or no insulation in your building.
There may be a very good reason why you are losing heat, the insulation used may have moved or broken down due to age, if you have had your building reinsulated thermal imaging will show you if the job was done in an efficient manor. The system used is non-invasive. With thermal imaging there is no need cut hole in the walls or ceiling. Problems can be found in a quick and cost effective manner.
Thermal Imaging and Repurchase Inspections
Having a pre inspection carried out before you buy any house or building could save you thousands of dollars in later maintenance cost. A Thermal Imaging Pre Purchase Inspections will complement a normal building inspection. It does not replace a normal building inspection they go hand in hand to give you an in-depth view of the building. The system used is non-invasive. With thermal imaging there is no need to cut holes in the walls or ceiling. Problems can be found in a quick and cost effective manner Thermal Imaging and Electricity Thermal Imaging can show up faults in the electrical system of a building, because a loose connection in a switch board will generate heat thermal imaging camera will easily pick this up. The same applies with electric motors which may be running but have a fault; the fault will generate heat which can be easily picked up with the camera Thermal Imaging and Mechanical Parts Thermal Imaging can show up faults in the mechanical system, for example if you have a worn bearing or a bearing which is not being lubricated this will generate heat which the thermal imaging camera will pickup the fault can then be repaired before it causes any major problems which can save a lot of down time and money Thermal Imaging and All Animals Including Humans Thermal Imaging can show up faults in the body, when a body is in pain it will generate heat.
